Skincare Q's You Were Afraid to Ask
Don’t worry we made a list of all the Skincare Q’s you were afraid to ask because we totally get it, skincare can be tricky sometimes! And with all the information and trends circulating on social media nowadays, it’s hard to know what’s right, wrong or what’s NEW!
If you feel you should be a know-it-all by now, with all the skinfluencers and the huge amount of skin content that you consume, well that’s not true and you’re not alone!
Should I wash my face with cold water?
Ideally, yes. But if you can’t stand cold water, lukewarm water is advisable too. Cold water has its benefits tightens the appearance of your skin, boosts circulation, which makes you look refreshed and healthier, and wakes you up. Washing your face with hot water can lead to dry skin, since it washes off your skin’s natural oils compromising your moisture barrier. This can aggravate any skin issue you may be experiencing. Whatever you do, don’t forget to wash it twice a day when you wake up and before going to sleep.
Should I exfoliate my skin? If so, how often?
Yes, you definitely should. This is part of the skincare basics. Find a gentle exfoliator for your face and body. They should be different, since the face requires a gentler exfoliation than some other parts of your body. We recommend exfoliating your face twice a week and your body 1-2 times a week or before you shave. Exfoliating before shaving can decrease the occurrence of ingrown hairs and helps to achieve a closer shave. However, don’t forget to moisturize your face and body after this. Since exfoliation removes dead skin cells, hence a thin layer of skin. Our Skin Defense Lotion is perfect for moisturizing those sensitive areas.
Should I wear SPF every day?
YES! 100% yes! Wearing SPF is as important ad washing your face. Sometimes people say, “but it’s not sunny outside...” or “I’m not even leaving my house...” Well, it doesn’t matter if you don’t feel the sunshine on your face, you still need to wear SPF. It protects your skin from UVA, UVB, and HEV lights. It prevents skin cancer in the long run, slows aging and prevents wrinkles. If you’re not wearing SPF yet, then start! It’s never too late to get this habit going.
Do my pores shrink or open?
No, they’re not doors. It’s not true that by putting steam in your face your pores will open, neither they will close by putting on primer. What these things do is to play with the appearance of your pores. For example, some products have niacinamide, which can make your pores appear smaller because it reduces sebum production. This is definitely a skincare Q you were afraid to ask!
Is waxing better than shaving?
It depends on your body hair type and your preferences. It’s not true that your hairs grow thicker because you shave, and it’s also not true that waxing prevents ingrown hairs. Both things can be a result of either hair removal process. It depends more on the process itself, your shaving method, the products used for prepping your skin, and the aftercare.
