How to Get Rid of Cellulite
We all want to know if there is a way to get rid of cellulite, so what do you want to hear first, the good or bad news?
FirsI, want you to know cellulite it's totally normal and natural so there's nothing wrong with having it, loving it, or wanting to get rid of it. Secondly, you can't eliminate cellulite completely, at least not at home or naturally. And there's no way to 100% prevent it from appearing.
Cellulite is so normal that affects up to 98% of women. A common assumption people make is that cellulite has to do with weight gain, and that's not TRUE (I'm not sure if I should say thanks God or unfortunately).
Actually, we don't know the exact reason why cellulite forms. But we know what factors increase the chances for cellulite:
- age
- hormones imbalance and abnormal levels of estrogen
- family history
- tissue inflammation
- increase of fatty tissue (unbalanced diet)
- loss of collagen
- poor circulation or lymphatic drainage
Since we are kind of 'predisposed to have it', all we can try is to continuously smooth and tighten the skin. Keep in mind results may vary, every body is different. So we recommend to try all these lifestyle changes and see what works best for you.
1. Drink More Water
I know, this sounds such a basic and generic solution, but you need plenty of it. Not only does it keep you hydrated, but water also helps with circulation and lymphatic flow. Given that cellulite has toxins in it, drinking plenty of water helps to get rid of all the toxins, keeping you fresh and rejuvenated. Cellulite can appear worse in a dehydrated state because the skin becomes thinner and weaken.
2. Dry Brushing
First, get a brush with natural, vegetable-derived bristles that are somewhat stiff. Then, go ahead and brush your skin in circular, long motions applying a bit of pressure. This is beneficial for cell renewal, improved blood flow, and the release of toxins by the lymphatic system. You'll also notice a glowy, smooth complexion that reduces the appearance of cellulite. 3. Coffee Scrub
Coffee scrub can be beneficial too. Not only does it work as a great exfoliator, but it also stimulates blood/lymph flow. On the other hand, the caffeine in the coffee and the massaging motion have a tightening effect on the skin. You only need to mix:
- 1/4 cup coffee grounds
- 3 tbsp. sugar or brown sugar
- 2-3 tbsp. of melted coconut oil
4. Toning Muscles and Fat Loss
Although cellulite is not strictly related to a person's weight, research does suggest that improved muscle definition, tighter skin, and fat loss in key areas can help reduce the appearance of cellulite. Some workouts you can do are:
- Any exercises involving kettlebells, these are good for the hips, thighs, buttocks, and stomach.
- Squats
- Jump squats
- Step-ups
- Glutes and leg kickbacks
- Side lunges
5. Omega-3
Consuming enough omega-3 fatty acids and fat-soluble vitamins will help reduce cellulite over time. These nutrients help build a stronger immune system, making your skin tighter and vibrant. They also prevent the imbalance of the fatty acids of your body, which can be altered by consuming the wrong kind of fats. So start eating more salmon, avocado, chia, and nuts :)
6. Balanced Diet
As we mentioned, a balanced diet will also help you keep your fat levels low and your skin healthier. Eat more raw and fiber-rich foods instead of high caloric and refined foods. The latter generates fat, especially in cellulite-prone areas. Also, watch your sodium, alcohol, and cigarettes intake!
7. Massage
One promising solution is massage. Give these spots a firm rubdown for a few extra minutes every day. You can do it in the shower or when you apply lotion on your body, or you can go to a professional. Massage improves blood flow and gets rid of excess fluid, which may make dimples less noticeable. It also improves lymphatic drainage and stretches the skin tissue - including cellulite dimples. Do it consistently, otherwise, you won’t achieve or maintain your desired results.
8. Retinol Creams
Incorporate a retinol body cream into your cellulite-minimizing routine. Retinol helps increase collagen and thicken the skin. The collagen plumps and smooths your skin every time you use it.
Let us know how it goes! Hope this helps! We just want to remind you that you’re beautiful just the way you are and there’s no shame in loving or hating your cellulite. We all go through the same thing 💜
