Fall Skincare Trends
We bring you the most relevant skincare trends this fall!
As one season ends and another begins, our skin needs time to adapt to the new weather. A new season is always a good time to reassess our skin care routine. And while you may not want to try all the trends, understanding and adapting the latest practices to your skin needs can help you boost skin health.
#1 Skin Rehab
If you took advantage of the fun in the sun this summer, it’s time to undo the damage UV rays brought. Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that prevents sun damage—and it may even reverse it. Other options are laser therapies and chemical peels. These can help reverse sun damage, heal uneven pigmentation, eliminate freckling, and rejuvenate the skin. Many dermatologists say they are completely booked in October for all these kinds of skin rehab sessions.
#2 All Natural and Sustainability
Natural products are one of the top beauty trends for the year. Consumers think more about the environment when shopping. They have become more demanding when it comes to the eco-credentials of their skincare products, packaging concepts especially. Additionally, environmentally conscious brands have begun incorporating upcycled ingredients into their formulations, reducing pressure on the earth’s natural resources, and minimizing landfill waste, too. These brands encourage consumers to continue checking ingredient lists and labels for kitemarks of authenticity before making purchases.
#3 Build Up Your Skin Barrier
The skin barrier has become one of the industry biggest fall skincare trends. For anyone who has used too much exfoliating acids, scrubs, or retinol treatments, barrier-focused products will come from heaven to restore and rebalance damaged skin. Harsh cleansing products will be replaced with gentler micellar water followed by cream or gel-based light cleansers that are free from aggressive chemicals. Also, start looking for nourishing ingredients in your serum and moisturizers.
Ceramides, fatty acids, aloe, and squalene will be your heroes for strengthening your skin barrier. Particularly in the cooler months, where there is less moisture in the air, it’s important to replenish lost moisture in the skin to ward off dryness and irritation. Hyaluronic acid will be your go-to ingredient because it serves as a moisture magnet.
#4 Skin Cycling
Skin cycling is a TikTok trend created by board-certified dermatologist Dr. Whitney Bowe, this trend is only getting HOTTER this fall. The concept is about not using the same skincare routine every day, but changing active ingredients for four days to prevent overburdening or irritating your skin.
- 1st day: It’s all about the acids (AHAs, BHAs)
- 2nd day: Brings in a retinoid
- 3rd and 4th day: It’s recovery time with hydrating ingredients like niacinamide and hyaluronic acid. The four-day skincare routine helps to prevent irritation from overuse of active ingredients.
The best thing about this trend is that works for all skin types, you just must adjust the routine your skin’s specific needs. A fall skincare trend for everybody!
#5: Tech at home
Last but not least, bring skin technology to your home! People are investing more and more in skincare home devices to keep a good maintenance regime outside the dermatologist's office. Some of the best home devices you can use our LED light masks, radiofrequency devices, beauty rollers, and cleaning brushes. Although these devices may be out of budget, they are durable and can be used every day. They are a wise long-term investment and far more cost-effective than in-clinic treatments. This is definitely a must-follow trend!
